Iceland and its Reykavik capital have them also their festival rock'n'roll. Icelandic Airwaves has its eighth edition. Ground of Björk and Gus Gus, one knew relatively little this cold and icy country which is Iceland.
Country considered for its broadmindedness and its clubs magnet, Icelandic Airwaves condenses rather well the assets of this country. One of the programmings of more “indie” of the European festivals and the magnet groups of most talented, here how this small Scandinavian festival is summarized.

The annnonce of this programming was for me the occasion to lean me on this small island of the Atlantic and to discover a little more the actors of the edition 2007. By this research, I enormously discovered artists and groups until now unknown for me.
Very large surprises, blows of heart, large snaps, émtion and desire for going there in October. Do not mistake, Iceland is not a so small country only that!

AMPOP - My Délusions

Surely most known of this “local” programming, AMPOP is a trio alternative rock'n'roll with the round and explosive melodies. Undoubtedly one of the groups which one will hear quickly on our waves the next year. First large surprise!

Benni Hemm Hemm - Labbi
Benni Hemm Hemm has little big band with littel big songs” here how they are presented on their page of the festival. Not less than 10 people this pop formation/folk composes. Elected official better album of the year and better innovation 2005 in Iceland, they already obtained the national recognition. To discover! µ

Dikta - Hunting For Happiness Formation
created in 1999, Dikta leaves here its second opus under the label the “Sugarcubes” - first group of Björk-. Superb the production better is included/understood! A pop energetic melancholic person but, here is the characteristic this their music. Dikta should to also arrive us via the United Kingdom, which one easily has a presentiment of their assets to allure our British neighbors. Second large surprise!

Esja - Esja
Duet blues did not record an album studio yet. Formed for the musical creativity and the interest for the music of cesdeux members Daníel Ágúst (GusGus) and Krummi Björgvins (Mínus and Moody Company). Relaxing melody and travels in a universe blues melancholic person. To discover!

FM Belfast - Bigger
Duet electro rock'n'roll, FM Belfast knows its tube with “lotus” taken again of famous “the Killing In The Name Of” of the Rage Against The Machine. All the Icelandic creativity Electro/Indé is represented in this duet. Third Large Surprise!

Hjaltalín - Goodbye July Mrgt
Pop formation/Folk/Indé made up of 9 members, Hjaltalin gives the shoegaze to the style of the day. Their source of inspiration osille between the 60 ' S, modern rock'n'roll and classical music. Hjaltalin takes you along to travel with subtlety and delight dasn its universe. One thinks Arcade Fire and Divine Comedy biensûr, but these Icelanders-there have leuyr trick with them well. Third large impression!

Jeff Who? - Death Before Disco
music Quintète rock'n'roll/indie, Jeff Who? is most astonishing, surprising, envoutant and dançant this selection. Hardly believable, these Icelandic did not post yet of MySpace to make known itself. Formed in 2004, they spent time to be confined of their first opus “Death Before Disco” -1an-. Then, they attempted to obetnir the favours of national criticism before thus conquering a public, odd like tactic, the reverse is more current! But we do not stop with that délicieusement to judge potential of this group to the melodies “revival 80 ' S” but terribly rythmées. Very large blow of heart!

Mammut - Mammut
Formed in 2004, one could compare them in all points with Arctic Monkeys. Old from 16 to 18 years, they deliver with insolence a décomplexé, inventive and subtle rock'n'roll. They sing in Icelandic, the words incomprehensible but are thus development by voices charming, suaves and powerful. Very large Blow of Heart!

Motion boys - Waiting to Happen
Duet pop magnet//rock'n'roll, Mtion Boyz is one of very large unknown of this selection. Titles which seem recorded in studios persos, scattered infos. large thing of these deux-là is not known. a thing is sure with the listening of their two pieces, Waiting To Happen and Hold Me Closer To You, one is in a hurry to know some a little more. To follow!

Mum - l'effet d'hiver
Others Unclassable formation, they are seven to offer melodies to us elcetro/indé. Completely shifted, they all are simply brilliant. They trimballent you of pop orchestral towards a rock'n'roll atmosphériqu. Almost always instrumental, their compositions are simple, light and mélodieuses. Fourth large surprise!

Retro Stefson - Retro Stefson
Quintète rather shifted, they are qualified like “ridiculously good”. Indeed, of the texts simple but repeated ad infinitum on samples of synthé exaggerated. The whole is pleasant and amusing. Without more...

Reykavik - Circle Golden delicious
Formation declared rock'n'roll/indé but nearer to howling metal. a piece retained my anttention for its construction: “All Those Beautiful”. For the remainder, I do not know myself there enough to judge them....

Seabear - Drunk Song
Pop trio born from the request of Books to open for them in Berlin, this small group did not leave yet album nor put on MySpace its compositions. Simple and daring melodies are projettées on voices which still miss good prodcution. Seabear will be one of the groups to be followed to Europe its next years. My bet of this selection!

Shadow Parade - Blood Red Moon One The Rise
Unclassable musical Sextète, Shadow Parade draw their influences between The Doors, Radiohead and Pink Floyd. The result rather is successful. Melodies vascillant between romanticism and melancholies. One thinks of all these large the pop orchestral one with the first listening. A very large blow of heart!

Sprengjuhöllin - Sprengjuhöllin
Quintète folk/rock'n'roll, they sings in Icelandic, words thus incomprehensible but once again produced and development very well. Beautiful geules of Scandinavians to make fade Kaiser Chiefs, Sprengjuhöllin should not be long in coming to visit us on our good unintermitting old man unless they do not start with the US ones. Fifth large surprise!

Edberg - Plastic Lions
Artsite solo surfant on rates/rhythms well electro as the scnadinaves can provide some. A beautiful voice but the melodies misses simplicity and of effectiveness. To see, without more!

Lay Low - Lay Low
Artist solo, singer folk/blues drawing her inspirations from Cat Power in Johnny Cash, Feist with Ray Charles. A quite vast but very dense universe, true “Beauty” its individual finds also echo in the universe of PJ Harvey. I am not fan of blues usually but a very large snap with the first listening. Very large blow of heart!

Mugison - Mugima Is This Monkey Music
Artist solo between pop electronica and/rock'n'roll, Mugison is with its third album solo in project. Rather accomplished artist you will fall under the charm from its melodies to the palpable melancholy and its powerful rock'n'roll. a voice deserving all the same better arrangements - with less than it seeks to equalize Clap Your Hand Say Yeah-. One finds a good old man trip hop in Jay Jay Johansson. That happiness. Very large blow of Heart!
